We understand that every requirement is unique. While some may need a single application grid comprised of just a few dozen hosts, others will run a shared environment with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of applications. Others may want to simply “kick the tires” and investigate the feasibility of grid enabling applications before selecting a vendor or going to the trouble and expense of deploying a production grid.

To support these diverse requirements, Platform Symphony is available in three editions to suit the needs of your specific grid computing requirement.

Platform Symphony Developer Edition

Available as a free download, Platform Symphony Developer Edition enables developers to rapidly develop and test applications without the need for a production grid. Once applications are running in the Developer Edition, they are guaranteed to run at scale once published to a scaled-out Platform Symphony grid. Unlike development environments that constrain the developer’s choice of language or development environment, the Platform Symphony Developer Edition support your choice of language, IDE and operating environments. Installable in minutes on one or two compute hosts, the Developer Edition enables developers to become productive immediately.

Platform Symphony Cluster Edition

Platform Symphony Cluster Edition enables organizations with modest application requirements to take advantage of the exceptional performance and enterprise class features of Platform Symphony. It is functionally equivalent to Platform Symphony, but is tailored to customers running departmental clusters. Conversion to a full version of Platform Symphony requires a simple license change, providing a simple, non-disruptive upgrade path.

Platform Symphony

Platform Symphony is intended for customers that need superior scalability. This includes support for up to 300 simultaneous applications per cluster and, with the addition of Platform MultiCluster for Symphony, can scale to manage environments comprised of several hundred thousand cores across multiple data centers. With Platform Symphony you can be sure you won’t run out of head room as additional users and applications take advantage of the superior performance and lower infrastructure cost of the shared grid.
